Linux write Command

Linux Command Manual

The Linux write command is used to send messages to other users.

Permission: All users.

Syntax

write user [ttyname]

Parameter Description:

Example

Send a message to Rollaend, who has only one connection.

write Rollaend

Next, type the message, and press ctrl+c to end.

Send a message to Rollaend, who has connections pts/2 and pts/3.

write Rollaend pts/2

Next, type the message, and press ctrl+c to end.

Note: If the recipient has set mesg n, the message cannot be sent to them.
