Linux exit Command

Linux Command Manual

The Linux exit command is used to exit the current shell.

Executing exit allows the shell to exit with a specified status value. If no status value parameter is set, the shell exits with the default value. A status value of 0 represents successful execution, while other values indicate failure. exit can also be used in scripts to exit the currently executing script and return to the shell.

Syntax

exit [status value]
