XSL-FO azimuth Attribute


Definition and Usage

The azimuth attribute is exclusively used for Aural Stylesheets.

An audio description of the document includes natural and artificially produced sounds, which are interspersed throughout the text content. Audio is typically generated by converting the document into plain text and feeding it into a screen reader.

The reasons for producing audio information are as follows:

Azimuth and elevation are crucial attributes for audio. These attributes are used to preserve segments of sound. In real life, not everyone can be located at the same point in a room.

The azimuth attribute specifies the direction from which the sound is emitted.

Value Description
angle Specifies an azimuth value from -360 degrees to 360 degrees. 0 degrees indicates the front center, 90 degrees indicates to the right, 180 degrees indicates the back center, and 270 degrees indicates to the left.
left-side 270 degrees or after 270 degrees
far-left 300 degrees or after 240 degrees
left 320 degrees or after 220 degrees
center-left 340 degrees or after 200 degrees
center Default value. 0 degrees or after 180 degrees
center-right 20 degrees or after 160 degrees
right 40 degrees or after 140 degrees
far-right 60 degrees or after 120 degrees
right-side 90 degrees or after 90 degrees
leftwards Sound from the left speaker
rightwards Sound from the right speaker
