Browser Support

All major browsers support the <wbr> tag except Internet Explorer.


Tag Definition and Usage

The <wbr> (Word Break Opportunity) tag specifies where in a text it would be appropriate to add a line break.

Tip: If a word is too long, or you are worried that the browser may break the lines in the wrong place, you can use the <wbr> element to add a Word Break Opportunity.

The <wbr> tag is new in HTML5.
